IFB Chairman and Founder recognised for Commitment and Contribution to the North East at Inaugural Society Awards in Aberdeen
IFB is delighted to share the news that IFB Chairman and Founder John Michie received the award for Outstanding Contribution to Retail & Leisure at the recent Society Awards in Aberdeen.
Society Magazine’s inaugural award ceremony celebrated the very best of the North-East at the Sandman Signature Hotel in Aberdeen. The extravagant evening recognised the excellence and commitment of those working in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. With a total of 15 awards up for grabs, this ceremony highlighted local talent across a variety of industries. IFB’s Chairman and Founder, John Michie, accepted the prestigious award for Outstanding Contribution to Retail/Leisure. In 1995, John's entrepreneurial ambitions lead him to set up IFB. One of Scotland's first Internet Service Providers, which has evolved into one of the leading Digital Service Providers in the UK. John said: “I am delighted for a team contribution over many years to the retail and leisure sectors in the North East of Scotland to be recognised in this way. It was appropriate that this Trophy which recognises the life and performance of our City Centre should come via the prestigious Aberdeen Society Awards and presented in the magnificent Sandman Hotel.
The firm of Charles Michie was established in 1928 and we have played a key role in the communities we are part of since then. This award recognises the effort and team work that took a network of individual shop and store owners and managers some 30+ years ago towards a Partnership with the City Council - to a more formal ACCA (A City Centre Association) and onwards to become one of the largest and most acclaimed Business Improvement Districts in the United Kingdom with our own Chief Executive Chairing the BiDs at a National Level. The true reward is to be recognised by your peers! I was very happy and honoured to accept the award.
As AI approaches its next election, I would wish the organisation to continue building bridges, taking every opportunity to link with Greater Aberdeen and embrace the opportunities presented by the development of the AWPR, South Harbour and TECA.” #TeamIFB are delighted to see John recognised in this way. John’s commitment and contribution to developing the region continues to benefit us all. Congratulations from #TeamIFB John - very well deserved!
